Strong mission. No audience
Petal Labs had built something genuinely worth paying attention to — a platform helping businesses measure and reduce their environmental footprint in practical, actionable ways. The science was solid. The product worked. But outside of a small circle of early adopters, nobody knew they existed. In a space crowded with vague sustainability claims and greenwashing, they needed a brand and a content presence that established real credibility — fast — with the procurement leads, sustainability officers, and founders who make the decisions that matter.
Credibility before awareness
Most startups want reach first. We convinced Petal Labs to build credibility first. Reach without credibility in the sustainability space is noise — audiences in this category are more sceptical than almost any other, and they can smell performative content immediately. We built a content engine designed to demonstrate genuine expertise before it asked for anything in return. Thought leadership on LinkedIn. Data-driven editorial on their blog. A visual identity that felt rigorous and considered rather than decorative and trend-led. Awareness followed naturally once the credibility foundation was in place.
